I agree with this description. I've had mine for several years now and put about 20k miles on it and I think it's still in the break-in period. Uncomfortable as hell. Looks awesome though!

My LaPera found a new owner on eBay. Bought my LaRosa seat for $60, its 10 time for comfortable and looks better. Too bad they don't make that style any longer.

I have had many, many seats. The bare bones is the coolest looking but most uncomfortable seat of the bunch. If your butt doesn't have a lot of extra padding, you will have butt callouses after a couple hundred miles. SJ Ron

I have a Slim and have the Bare Bones pleated seat on it. It's the best looking seat I've seen on a Slim. It's more comfortable than the Stock Slim seat but not by much. I sat on a Deluxe the other day with a stock seat and I couldn't believe how much more comfortable the seat was. I might end up with the Mustang seat for the longer rides.

Ok I have the BB seat to on a 96 FXSTC. I love the look of the seat by haven't met much time in on the seat since I just got it a couple weeks ago. This weekends I did a 100 mile trip and it was rough but not as bad as the first trip with less miles. I don't really care for the look of the stock Softail seat so I thought about buying a gel pad to throw on it for long trips. Has anyone gone that route to put a get or air pad on the seat, if so what did you go with. Don't know if this matters but I'm 6'2ish 220lbs. Probably should be on a bigger bike but hey! Found a deal and wanted to get back in the saddle.

My personal rule of thumb on aftermarket seats - the cooler they look the more uncomfortable they are.
