Bought a 2011 Heritage with couple quick questions
I want some type of QD mount for the saddle bags. I've been doing some searching and it looks like there's a few styles to pick from. Leaning towards the EZ brackets right now, but would be interested in whatever is cheapest that works good.
The handlebars really put a kink in my back between my shoulder blades. I'm assuming they are stock, looks like 12" mini apes with 2" risers. After 200 miles yesterday my upper back was really sore so I rotated them back about an inch and I'll see if that helps. I definitely will swap out bars with something I can run the wiring internal, probably thicker too. Is there enough slack to run the bars internally on the same height as stock if I buy different bars? I thought about just drilling the stock ones, I've done it in the past on other bikes.
The passenger's seat really pushes into my lower back, I can live with it but it's uncomfortable. I'm still on a budget is there any other options for comfortable passengers seats I can use with the stock driver's seat that maybe goes up instead of the "lip" sticking out so much? Long term I'm going to be buying a tan leather two up seat and saddle bags. I think they would look awesome with my Merlo color. On second thought do you think a driver's backrest would work to keep me forward from the lip or push the lip back?
I was pleasantly surprised with the little "cruise control" wheel on the throttle. I thought it would be a joke, but for giving my throttle hand a couple minute rest it worked perfectly.
I'm coming off a 2014 Victory Cross Country which honestly was a great bike. It was really fast with the stage one and 106", the air shocks and seat were great, but the wind buffeting was terrible. I tried three different windshields on the fairing but no help. It sounds like the angular design and really long tank just create too much turbulence, only cure was lowers or big fork mounted lowers. I finally just decided to pull the trigger on a Harley. I noticed immediately on the way home the buffeting was WAY better and the stock windscreen is too low for me at 6'1".
I wanted to give a big thumbs up to Eric at Wolverine Harley here in Michigan. As far as dealerships go, you will NOT find a better one. It was the most professional purchase I've made including cars, boats, etc.

But my ride has changed since I purchased it. I got HogDeluxe springer bags, installed V&H true duals, did some pinstriping, add front fender light, freight train nacelle, and added a 21" front wheel. Love the Heritage ole skool look...
