Default Folks with ECM mounted on top of battery...long term input?

I'm wanting to move my ECM on top of the battery and I'm wondering what peoples experiences with doing this are. Is heat an issue?

Suggestions for securing are welcomed too.

I actually do ride my bike some good distances and am worried about heat or other issues.

THanks for any input.

It's not like the stock location gets any airflow under the seat, so I can't imagine it would make a difference. I ran a piggyback computer on top of mine for a while and had no problem, lots of people do this so I'd have to say that you will be fine moving it to the top of the battery.

Why do you want to do it?

On my '12 FLHTK the ECM is mounted on top of the battery.... I know it's a different frame, but that location has no effect on the touring ECM...

That is how I have been running mine for years.. expect no issues... ECMs are designed to be hardened devices, resistant to chemicals, heat, dog bites and evil eye..

Mine is an 09RKC and the ECM is mounted over the battery along with my PCV and I have never had any issues with heat on 1500mi trips. Hope this helps. 😊

That is your stock mounting location correct? On the softies...the battery is surrounded in the front by the hot oil bag.

Yes it is stock on mine. You probably have a lot more heat to deal with because of your oil.

Hey!

uhmm.. fenderless .. as you can imagine riding in the rain is a terrible experience!!.. is all about the looks..

funny thing is that I remove so many heavy parts from my bike that it actually handles better.

BTW.. that is an old pic... this is how my scoot looks now
