Default deuce tach installation

how do i determine which is the #3 terminal on my speedometer connection harness?

I hooked mine to the #3 terminal on the ECM, it was marked on the back of the terminal block when I opened the plastic coverup.

johnk/pa is right. i just hooked mine up on my 05 deuce a couple of weeks ago and it works fine. when you have the connector apart pull out the safety block in the cavity of pin three and try to get the right pin connector if you can. i work for gm and we had the terminal in our kit at work. maybe someone in service at the hd shop will give you one.

My '02 already had the pink (tach signal)wire connected and pig-tailed away under the dash, right next to and under the speedometer. All I had to do was attach the tach wire to it and then run the power and ground wires. I didn't have to mess with any pins at all but it is my understanding that in later model bikes (dont know which year they made the change) having the tach pre-wired is no longer part of the wiring harness. I guess that's what passes for progress in York, removing useful features to save $0.50 worth of wire.
