Default Brighter headlight options?

Looking for more visibility during the day for my stock Heritage with passing lights. I don't really want to spend several hundred dollars but could go $150. I see fake day maker and truck lights on eBay, junk or decent? What about silver star or similar halogen replacement bulbs? How about LED rings? I'm not as concerned about night as much as day. Running hi beams gets me flashed by cars. My buddy dropped the coin on a day maker that looks great but man is it costly.

A lot of us have gotten good results by replacing the stock 60/55 bulb with a 80/100 watt "offroad" bulb. About ten bucks, and way brighter than Silver Star.

The Truck-lite is probably the best deal in LED's (http://www.drivetrainamerica.com/tru...gler-cj-tj-jk/), but the LEDs tend to be very directional, and can't be seen very well other than straight-on during the day.

I've read LED bulbs are crap and that's the reviews from others. I'd get a Truck Light but they don't make a 5" one and I've heard they're as good and cheaper than the Day Maker. Other than TL or HD, I'm not sure what else is out there.

Any electrical worries about the 80/100 watt from the extra juice? That sounds like just the ticket. I'm just looking for something that jumps out a little more during the day.

Other options:
There are replacement LED bulbs that go inside the stock headlight bucket, like these, about 70 bucks: http://www.fuelmotousa.com/moto-led-headlight-bulb.html
Not a ton of feedback on them yet, but like Chickin has said, some of the reviews aren't too good.

Another option is an LED lightbar like one of these, mounted between the forks under the triple trees:

Super bright white color, and despite what they claim, it's not really a "spot" beam, so it can be seen quite well from off-angles. The 27 dollar price gets you two of them. I have these on both my bikes.

Those LED replacement bulbs look interesting, I wonder how long they last. We're in deer country so I try not to plan any rides after dark so I'm not overly concerned with the more directional LED bulb. I'm really looking for something more "white" than stock yellow lighting during the day. What about something like this?

I haven't heard of any problems, but most people are using a plug-and-play ceramic connector to make sure the extra heat won't melt the stock plastic plug at the back of the bulb. Like this one:

I used one of mine for a while without the ceramic connecter though (didn't get around to putting it in for a while), and the plastic plug was fine.

Yes! The 80/100 bulbs such as the Hella are an excellent and cheap upgrade, and are superb at daytime improvements as well. But.... and I mean but, don't just pop one in and go. They will melt your socket over time. Not from the draw as one might expect, but from the extra HEAT the bulbs create. If you go the 80/100 route, also spend the extra ten bucks and install a ceramic plug. Five seconds to install, won't melt and really is necessary. I have run that setup for years and just love it.

I have this in my headlight:
http://www.cyron.com/p-209-headlight...les-abh4k.aspx

And these in my passing lamps:
http://www.cyron.com/p-213-fogpassin...ab881-a6k.aspx

I've had them in for about a month now and I can say they're BRIGHT. For about a hundred bucks I have an all LED conversion solution that can still accept a bulb from any autoparts store should the need arise in the future. Can't beat that!

Top is showing the difference in the stock halogen passing lamp vs the LED bulb.

How it looks during the day, didn't have the passing lamp LED's yet.

How it looks at night, didn't have the passing lamp LED's yet.

Hope that helps!
