Default Crooked handlebars..

I saw a post about this before, but couldn't find it. I just realized today that my handlebars are slightly crooked. As in, looking down on them from above, the right side of the center is slighty closer to me in the riding position. Is this a problem other than driving me crazy because I know they're like that? How can it be fixed? Any ideas? Thanks..

Ever since I bought the mini apes and the wide glide risers for my softail and put it together it's always a little crooked like that on the right side. Not very noticeable... but I notice it. I have taken it apart and put back together a couple of times now and also turned the steering the other way and applied pressure to where it straightens out... but low and behold when I come back it's just like before. I can't figure it out for crap.

Pretty easy to fix. You have to loosen the handlebar clamp and the riser bolts, and adjust the bars, then torque them down. I loosened mine just enough so I could move them, but there was still a fair amount of friction. After that, you just eyeball it. Before you start, put something over your gas tank in case you drop the bars!

Cheers!

It's one of those things that you can fix today and tomorrow it might be right back where you started. I just got used to mine being a little crooked.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I put polyurethane riser bushings in, and those have NO give, so that may be why mine haven't moved since.

Cheers!

I appreciate the replies.. and yea, I turned the wheel all the way to the left, then applied pressure to try to turn it over that way...it stayed...for about 10 seconds, and just worked it's way back to where it was. The polyurethane bushing sounds like an idea. Thanks[&:]

Mine are the same way!!! I dont see how riser bolts effect it. Its not off up and down, it off left to right. The dealer said they can somehow readjust it. It drives me nuts as well!!

It seems to be that there is some slop in the stock rubber riser bushings. The polyurethane replacements have no slop whatsoever. With the rubber bushings, I was able to move my bars back and forth aobut 3 - 4 inches. With the polyurethane bushings, it's like the risers are welded to the top triple tree - no movement whatsoever!

Cheers!

Awesome! It drives me crazy how I can grab the top of my bars (being that they're apes don't help the fact) and move the bars back and forth. So how hard is it to change them? I would imagine it's not very hard. Where can I get the polyurethane bushings?
