Anyone know the difference between the Heritage/FatBoy/Softail Deluxe Recurve Shield and the Nostaligia windshield. Looking to replace the OEM King Size windshield on my Deluxe.
Yes. The Nostalgia windshield has 5 mounting holes. The Standard Heritage has.....more. I just went through that when I ordered the 16" for my Deluxe. Got the standard Heritage and needed the Nostalgia. Had to return it to get the right one. There are schematics on the LRS website.
I went ahead and ordered an 18" on this sale. The 16" was a little too short and I was getting some helmet buffeting. My shipping was $16 to CA, so the total hit was $80. That's still a smokin' good deal!

I greatly appreciate the response. Probably saved me from doing the same thing. I put an order in for the 16" - hope it's not too short.
Gforrest, I just did the same. Put in an order for the 16 " that fits the upside down horseshoe frame(nostalgic). I had the same question and called them. Seemed to be nice folks. He told me that if your currently running the oem 18" shield, they recommend the 16" LRS as the replacement and buffeting shouldn't be a problem. Dont take off the paper and try it first(see there website about trials). Still $26.00 shipping to S.C., but still a good deal. Post your impression after you get it on.
.....changing it out was a PITA. But first a shout out to Long Ride Shields. Answered my question on fitment promptly and even though their website said to expect delays due to the sale, ordered my windshield last Tuesday and received it this past Monday. But back to the installation. The OEM bolts were loctitied and a bitch to get apart. And the hardware was attached to the windshield with double stick tape on the outside and very sticky double stick foam on the inside. I didn't think I'd get these off the old windshield with out destroying them (outside piece is very thin). Heated it up with a hair dryer and was able to pry them off. Took about an hour. Once the hardware was removed from the old shield, the new one went on easy. Riding impressions: I'm short and had the 20" King Size Nostalgia windshield and the fangs. This blocked virtually all air from hitting me. I looked through this windshield. The new 16" is still just a tad tall for me; I look over it like you're supposed to, but the top of the windshield is just below my line of sight. And although my head sticks will above the windshield, I noticed very little buffeting. Virtually none at my face, but slightly increased wind noise at my ears. I got the light tint. Looks good with my Black Pearl paint. I'm pleased with the performance and looks.
Received mine in about a week also. 16" clear for my deluxe. The HD 18" tinted one was a tad to tall, now the 16" LRS is definatly out of the way. Buffeting is virtually the same as the HD 18"(almost none). I think that has a lot to do with my having a windshield bag that helps cut down on the flow. Bolts were very hard to remove due to HD yellow loctite, also. I didn't have any problem removing the hardware. Just flexed the old shield and off they came. I like it a lot and thanks to LRS, no thanks to Fed Ex for the $26 shipping to S.C.
