To me harley risers are cheap pot metal and everything I tried didn't work. Got a good set of after hours choppers risers and bought military grade screws. I can push with all my 300 lbs and they won't budge now. You won't believe the difference good screws make.

They must have elaborated. What isn't safe about it? Their loose? Wrong size? What did mr. Dealer say? They probably want you to change your riser bushings to "solid" them
Up right?

Drill out the threads on the stockers and heli-coil them. They are ROCK solid after that. Lot cheaper than upgrading...and you'll still have the rubber isolators. I don't know about you, but I don't like my arms going numb.

Some will say pin them...but I was told that is a bad idea.

YMMV.

Sounds like the bore in the clamp is wore out and knurls aren't grabbing the knurls of the bars or the knurls of the bars are wore out and not grabbing the clamp. If the clamp is somewhat snugged up and the bars are repeatedly rotated to test fit it can wear the gripping surface of the knurls off and they won't grab as tightly as they should. This can be true for the clamp and/or the bars. The bolts could also be bottoming out (either on the shoulder of the bolt or running out of thread depth in the riser) before the clamp is fully seated.

I tried everything first, beer can, pinning, jb weld, sand paper. Nothing worked until I bought good risers and McMaster carr screws. My bars aren't knurled .

Yes to that. I did end up threading in a small set screw into the bars & drilling a hole in one of the riser caps to prevent the bars from rotating back. Installed new riser bushings from J&P. Now the bars are solid.
