Ive been shopping for a BT lately, especially a Deluxe. I get a call from one of the dealers today that they took in a mint 01 Fatboy w/20k on the clock and want $10900 for it. A quick search on DHTrader shows them going (asking) from $10-14k still so it seems like a good deal. Id of course want to ride it first and see how it feels. But does this sound lieka decent deal overall? And what should I look out for on a 6 year old bike? I want that deluxe, but cant quite get over the 420k nut for a new one!!
Another local dealer has an 05 Deluxe for $15995 that I saw on HDTrader. I called them to get more info and asked the sales guy what he could tell me about the "05 Deluxe?" His response was "Deluxe what?" I just dont get some of these dealers....
First... Get what you want. Second there is a blue book for bikes. Lastly if you want a deluxe then keep looking for one. Call all the dealers you can, send them emails. They will do a product search for you. My wife bought an 06 Deluxe (in 07), she did not want the blue and white or the black... She wanted the Black and White. What she wanted is what she got. Our shop did a product search and found one (nearby) andmade a trade with one of their left over Springer Softails.
Thats what the sales person kept saying and i dismissed it as typical BS. But now that I hear it from other owners it makes sense. I think Ill still check out the Fatboy, but have it in for the Deluxe.
