Well I am slowly trying to work back into riding again and of course, now my 2012 Heritage has issues. Had to replace the battery and now my charge light comes on after only a few minutes of the bike running. I recently changed the original battery and put in a non-HD BATTERY (Duracell) that is an across the board replacement for the original MOCO batt. I noticed today that when I shut down the ignition switch, the Batt light stays lit for about 15 seconds. Any ideas? I have the shop Manual for the bike but thought I would take the easy way first and see if anyone else ever had this issue. If so, what was the fix.

If you don't have one, a digital multimeter can be had for as low as $10 at most auto stores.
Measure the battery voltage with nothing turned on - should be 12 to 13v
Measure the battery voltage with ignition turned on - should remain 12 to 13v
Start and run the engine at around 2000 to 3000 rpm - should be 13.5 to 14.2v
Do you have a link to the Duracell battery?
AutoZone and such shops can do a load test on the battery free of charge.
Thanks for the input all. Well thankfully I am not one of this folks who shys away from chasing electrons. I was hoping it was just a defective new battery. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.
Batt voltage =12.57V
Ign on Batt voltage = 12.34V
Idle = 12.37V and charging up to 14.2V. However:
After throttle inputs and raising rpm up to 2000 rpm a couple of times the charge voltage slowly started to drop until ultimately there was no changing and the red BATT light finally came on. Time to look at the VR inputs/outputs and hope it's a VR and not a Stator assy. Will let y'all know what the final verdict comes out too. Thanks again!
So I was reading in the forums that Had had a recall on the VR's on some 2012 touring models and softails. Anyone get theirs changed out under the recall/SB? is the recall/SB relevant to certain VIN# or any of that kind of bs?
