Ok kind of confused.

Installed an led in a Harley bucket. Led light turns sideways while riding. There's a metal ring behind the light that has raised areas to catch the light, but has a wide gap so the light is able to turn.

What am I missing?

 

There should be an adapter ring that indexes in the headlight bucket and then the headlight should have a boss on it that will index into the adapter ring. Then the trim ring goes on and keeps it all from falling out.
