Trip time, any packing hints?
Tues before memorial day until mem day i willbe on a bike trip in TN, & NC. Ill be riding Deals Gap, Cherahola sky way & parts of the blue ridge parkway, this is my 1st time on all these roads & im super excited, the problem is I have a 05 springer classic & while it is beautiful not much packing room. i have the bags (but they are kind of small) & a luggage rack, I also got the Harley T-Bag, I need to fit a weeks worth of stuff in not much space, im staying in hotels so i wont need camping gear any suggestions?

Man, I'm doing the same thing. From the 24-28 I'm heading down to Smoky Mountains National Park to meet some buddies and ride the BR Parkway and other areas around there. We'll be sleeping in tents, so I have to pack everything tight and strap it all to the sissy bar (tent, sleeping bag, clothes). Maybe I'll see you on the road.
i just got back from a trip to Big Bend, as far as packing are you taking a female?
That makes a difference, sometimes a lot more is taken on the trip if so.
One thing I would suggest is the HD Ride Atlas of North America it lists any and all HD dealers
and scenic routes along the way as well as motorcycle laws in each state.
Also roll up clothing when packing... fit a lot more that way and it doesn't wrinkle as bad.
1.Tools
2.Maps
3.cold/cool weather gear
4.Rain gear
5.Hot weather gear
6.spare goggles/glasses
7.fix-a-flat
8.digital camera/extra batt.

NO, thump, leaving the fiance at home, she likes the partying trips more than the riding ones.
Thanks for the info, There will be a HD atlas in the group we are riding with,
This is the longest trip ive ever been on where i wasnt staying in a travel trailer, or some kind of rig where i can store extra stuff, it all goes on the bike now ha ha

You won't need too much for clothes. You will probably buy a t-shirt or two that you will want to wear. One thing is a must, get a Mad Map either from Deals Gap or Smokey Mountain Harley. It has detailed routes to check out. It will be your best investment. Also ride the Dragon on the weekend and you can get your picture taken from Killboy.com. He is usually set up on weekends. Ride safe and pay attention to the road. The view is great but don't let it distract you.
I envy you. Came from NC in 06 to CA. Will be here for 2 years. Hope to return to enjoy the same roads you'll be on.
Of course the usual tools, emergency stuff, first aid, clothes, munchies. Also, trash bags and ziplocks. I always take a few larger trash bags with - stuff them anywhere. They are great for emergency waterproofing. Ziplocks are for good organization of "stuff" and for deliberate waterproofing. Quart size are great for cell, wallet, other small stuff you want to keep dry. Tiny key chain LED light. Padlock or cable lock for helmet/jacket.
Maybe pack and wear throwaway clothes? You'll pack out heavy but come home light. When stuff gets dirty, toss it and wear the next set.
Camera.
Enjoy.
