Default Auxiliary Brake Light Running/Light Conversion Kit Trouble

I have a 2006 Fatboy and installed this kit about 5 years ago. The other day I noticed that the left running light was not on and it also would not act as another brake light. It did however work as a turn signal.

I took the lens cover off and tried to take the bulb out but the glass part just came of in my hand. I manage to take the bulb base out with a pair of needle nose pliers. The socket looked like it was burnt compared to the other side. I clean the socket out and put some dielectric grease on the new bulb.

Same thing. No running light or brake light.

I put a meter on the good side. Running light shows as 6 volts and brake as 12 volts. On the left side nothing on running or brake but a steady flash of 12 volts with the turn signal on.

Does this sound like the conversion kit has gone bad? I'd hate to buy another one at nearly $100.00 up here in Canada and it turns out that not the problem. You can't return electronic parts.

Anyone out there had this happen and what was the fix?

Voltage at the terminals should be exact as the other light. Pull the adapter, see if you can clean the pins, if not move the connection back and forth for abrasion. If that was the problem slap a lil di=electric grease on the connection...now you know.
If not, damn R/B/T probably adapter went out. Electronics a diff thng to track down, could even be the wiring harness connection under the fender.

While it's certainly possible the R/B/T adapter went out..... if there was damage to the bulb/socket, I would thoroughly check that before moving on.

Make sure you check the wiring behind the bulb socket... If there was a burnt socket, it could have been caused by corrosion, and the wires behind the socket could also be the cause of the trouble.

Good luck....
