The breakout
[QUOTE=Dave15;14435978]Love the breakout. I'm an 'old guy'.
Since we're critic-ing, what is the fat tall tire on the front of the 48 all about?
That I don't get. Is that bike for mud bogging?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess
love the breakout look. Was going to buy one until my girl saw the freewheeler.
(Sorry I strayed from thread subject. AND included a trike. I'll go away)[/QUOnot
not a fan of the 48 either, but to each his own

It seems to be one of those bikes that you either love or hate. I fell in love with it 2 years ago when I first saw it. Worked my *** off and now I finally have one. It's what I wanted and so that's what I got. Different strokes for different folks. As far as the handling on the breakout. I think it handles just fine. Scrapes pegs fairly easy but that can be changed. I don't think the wide back tire holds me back from throwing it around at all.
Those of us on Social Security disagree.
If you're used to a narrow-tire bike, you have to mentally adjust to the difference in the Breakout's handling. I push mine hard enough over in turns to scrape my pipes and primary and it stays true.
Even better with a few mods.
The concept is that people like me don't want something that looks like a hand-me-down from our Father. HD's whole line in 2011/12 looked old and stale to me - a rehash of something from the 50's. Then along comes the Breakout - big fat tire on the rear - a little chopper-ish, a bit wisp-ish in the front end, but still a true Harley. I looked at Victory, and while a few of their bikes looked promising, they had some idiot do the design touches that gave all their bikes a retro look - WTF's up with that crap? Then I looked at Indian - Their design dept looks like they don't know TV's been invented! Ayeeeeee!
First thing you do is unscrew those "feelers" and throw them away. Then go ge a new set of front pegs because new ones won't have the "step-down" like the OEMs do. That will give you lots more lean clearance.
I've had bikes with a 200 tire, but anything bigger just doesn't seem to handle to well to me, but that's just my experience, to each his own.
...though the breakout looks mean, that's for sure
When I look at this bike, I just don't get it. What is Harley trying to get across with this bike. The big tire? I don't get the concept? can someone point it out to me. probably sounds like a dumb question. Don't mean to offend anyone that owns one, just trying to wrap my brain around it.

I went by the local dealer and spotted a white Breakout (not sure of the official color name). It was the only thing at the dealer that got my attention. Damn it looks good, very tempting. Might have to go back and take a closer look.
It was during the ROT Rally that I fell out of love with it. I saw a bunch of them there and from heavily modded to all stock they just looked the same to me. To me they don't have a lot of character. Don't get me wrong they're great looking bikes but compared to a Deluxe they're just bland. That's my opinion. So I chocked it up to a loss and traded it in on a Deluxe.
Here was my Breakout right before I traded it in
looks like something else ive seen that came out a few years ago. oops, sorry fellas but it looks very close as someone on here said it looks like nothing else out there, i beg to differ.
Ditto. The blue CVO Breakout was one of the best looking bikes ever made by HD, but also radically overpriced.
Owned a Raider in 2010. Aside from the racked out front end, the Breakout and Raider look nothing alike.
