Something tells me the S Series numbers will be limited only by how many the MoCo can make and sell for this 12 months.

The take-up of allocation by dealers here in Australia doesn't yet indicate they are a "hot" seller.
A little unusual for a "new" model that's supposedly in the mainstream.

I'm about to order one tomorrow, maybe. The morning will tell; Slim or Fat.

i went to 4 harley dealers nobody has the 2016 fatboy s they told me they stop production on them how true nobody knows

There will be dealers with them, you may have to get one shipped to you or ask your dealer to do a dealer swap.

I just bought mine a couple of hours ago. Looked at a lot of dealers in southeast Michigan and only found a couple. One dealer was asking for a premium and the one I delt with was fare and went out of their way to get my business. This weekend looks ok so I can only wait or it might be a long wait until bike week!
