I had a 2006 street bob with H-D forward controls and stock solo seat, Loved it, could ride all day. My wife surprised me with a new 2013 Deluxe. Due to an accident and some health issues I have only been able to log about 8000 miles on my deluxe. Problem is that I cant seem to find the same comfort zone I had on my dyna. I tried the H-D froward controls but they don't seem to have the length that the dyna ones did. They had my knees bent at an awkward uncomfortable position to me. So I have the boards back on and a crash bar with highway pegs. I still cant seem to get it right, feet either too high or the pegs are too far or something. Now I mostly have my heel on the board and toes on the highway peg, that is ok for a while but I just cant find that sweet spot I had before. So before I spend any more money, what do I need to get to have the forward controls in the same place as the dyna. Or if its even possible? And no I cant go buy another dyna, don't want to hurt my wife's feelings in the process. Thanks for any ideas.
Try different seats. Some will move you up and forward, some back and down, and variously in between. Your dealer should have some demos that you can try.
i could never find a comfortable position on my dyna forwards. my feet were constantly dancing around on the pgs. i struggled for a long time untill i got my new 2012 fatboy lo. i have so many comfortable positions on the floor boards that i've never been so happy on a bike. guess it's just gonna take some trial and error. hope you find your spot soon.
Could try a set of Accutronix +2 or +6
They are expensive but if U can't use them, they would probably be easier to sell than the Harley.
I put a set of Accotronix on my '15 FLHTCU because of the same issues U are having. They solved most of my problems but need to be a bit lower.
Also, they get my knees lower through my legs on the seat making the foot placement more relaxed.
With the floorboards, I was like perched up on my butt bones with my knees in my eyes.

I used to have a Dyna Superglide Custom which I fitted forward controls to. I'm 6' and my legs were completely straight. On both my softail's fitted with 'forward controls' I was so uncomfortable I had to add 3" extensions which are better but not like my old dyna.
