Default softail shock removal

this job can kiss my medium sized off white butt cheeks. if anyone has ever removed these stock shocks from a fatboy god bless you. there is a screwdriver stuck in the drywall of the garage to prove how much i hate this nightmare of a job. (yes, i have an anger problem). the rear bolts on the shocks won't budge. not one bit. not hammer, not impact, not heat, not muscle, nothing. thought the shotgun shock was going to be a 2 hour install.. but i'm walking away from it for a few days. just venting to anyone that is bored and will listen.

Just a suggestion. It worked for me. Take off the rear wheel. Gives you more room to work. Heat and a breaker bar worked for me. If you have ABS you have to loosen the rest ABS HCU to get the shocks out

Cheater bar on one side, solid boot on the other is how I managed. Good luck.

I had a hub nut on a VW once that broke three breakerbars and laughed at impact wrenches. I drove it down to the local big rig tire changer and had them break it loose with their big air tools. I tightened enough to drive home then disassembled. If they are accessible with the bike intact it might be an easy out.

that was pretty good thinking there. didn't have a pipe in the garage long enough to make my own breaker bar but with the craftsman junk i have i'll probably break those before the bolts come out

Breaker bar is the answer.
