Default Crossbones windshield trouble.

Hey all. I ride the stock springer seat on my bones for now and I had a 19" windshield that blocked my vision. I cut it down and when I hit the highway the air vibrates my whole head so bad I wanna puke. It did this with the 19" and 15" (rough estimate in inches) is there any solution to this? My guess is the springer seat has me sitting up too high. Does anyone use the Harley seat pan springer seat? It looks like it lowers the rider a bit.

Thanks

Though I don't have one, I did some investigation on a sprung seat and I think the standard HD one is about 1" lower. Hopefully someone with one, SprungDave, will chime in, if not, PM him.

There's a sweet spot for sure in windshields. My 17" king size is great for wind but I hate looking through it. My 14" compact shield buffets my head and wants to pull my helmet off. For me 15.5 would be perfect, right at my nose.

Did you say the 19" shield buffeted your head as well even though you looked through it? What kind of helmet are you wearing?

You could try slouching down 1" or 2" and see if that helps before you spend any money. I also took off my shield for a while, testing to see if my fuel mileage will go up. I had to tighten my helmet but after I did that, there wasn't the buffeting though my neck was doing some work at S. Fla highway speeds of 70+. Not sure if I want to keep riding like that or not.

Default Windshield

At 19" the top of my head is exposed the windshield is at my eyes bouncing up and down so I cut it. At 19" the top of my head vibrates and at the 15" my whole head is vibrating. And I'm not talking a subtle vibration. It's worse with the windshield than without. I wear a small full face biltwell and it fits snug. Do Memphis flats work better? I was just trying to take the wind off my chest for highway riding but at this point I'm probably gonna stick with no windshield.

Hmm. I get buffeting but not "vibration" with my half helmet, not with my 17" but with my 14".

I've never tried the Memphis shades shields, I see you can get them for around $92 on eBay and they have different heights (you measure from top of headlight opening to the top).

My 17" is a Clearview Shield with "recurve" the directs air up over the helmet and it works great for the wind..but mine is too tall for me and I have to look through it which I don't like. i've considered cutting it but haven't done it yet There is a 10% hdforum discount if you want to try one, it's a great product, thicker than the HD shield.
