I've researched this a bit and tried a couple of different options on my scoot- including the Trucklite LED assembly and an 80w LED H4 bulb. I've also seen my bud's Heritage with the HD Daymakers installed.
The Trucklite is not much brighter than a halogen bulb. I was disappointed with it. It is probably around 2500 lm or so.
The Daymaker is insanely bright and uses optic lenses to focus the light . you can't beat having optics over the LED for best light projection. it is about 4500 lm and there is a significant difference in light throw between low and high beam. yes it is expensive, but yes it is worth it since there is nothing else out there presently comparable. It is also quite cool looking, the Trucklite design, not so much.
I presently have an 80w H4 led bulb in my stock bucket. it is very bright at about 5000 lm. I had to flip the inner reflector upside down to get proper high / low light throw and not blind oncoming traffic. it was about $50 on ebay. However since the led bulb has such a low resistance draw, sometimes the high beam indicator comes on even when on low beam- the ECM thinks it is seeing a burned out bulb.
Any led bulb (or HID bulb) placed in a H4 reflector housing is not going to be as effective as an LED assembly with proper optic lenses. it is impossible to have the LED light diodes sit in the correct optimal reflector point for low or high beams.
2500lm is not adequate enough for good light. high beam won't really be any different than the low beam and it won't go down-road very far. it won't be that visible during daytime either. but LEDS are whiter- and it can be perceived they are brighter just because the light is very white vs halogen.
These are just the results of my own testing and research. Result is, at least for now, Daymaker is the best game in town for a legit, well designed LED headlamp.
Here's a thread where someone posted a link to a pretty good review. Should help.

I have LED's all the way around on my Heritage. For the headlight and passing lamps I went with DK Customs. For the signals, the brake lamp and license plate lamps I went with Custom Dynamics.
Went all LED in 2011. Been through a few of the HD lights, mainly Aux lights that don't last. Finally JW Speaker came out with Aux and headlamps that have a limited lifetime warranty as long as you own the bike. Installed them a few months ago and liked them so much, I installed them on my Jeep 10th anniversary Rubicon. www.customdynamics.com is the place to get all your LED lighting. Great prices and great service!
For those of us that REALLY ride, you have to have the best equipment!
Anybody installed LED lights in a Heritage? If so any recommendations?
Thanks,
New Guy
Yeah, buy one. I did and it made a major difference visibility at night. I bought mine off a guy on another board. Several people there have had them for over a year and have had no problems. 2300 lumens, $35.oo shipped. Was at a bike shop last night and saw the exact same bulb for $79.95
Did the JW Speaker on mine. Like it alot. Was looking a couple weeks ago at them for my Jeep and was coming accross them for $240 each. Paid $280 last year. Direct plug and play on the bike, and fit nicer than the truck lites, IMO.

You must work for Harley. I've unbiased comparisons and alli have read say the truck is not only brighter but the VERY best value since the day maker is so vastly over priced
Cmon get in the game
Lefty
Are the guys running the Daymaker getting the low voltage or whatever warning lite on the dash? Is there certain years that have this issue? What's the fix? Are some people getting it, others not? Would like to get one of these but if it will cause issues then maybe not....

Daymaker does not cause warning on Dash or throw a code. The H4 replacement LED bulb will sometimes throw a code that the bike thinks the bulb is burnt out. If you really want a Daymaker, get a JW Speaker Evo 2 instead. JW Speaker makes the HD Daymaker and the Daymaker is the original Evo. The Evo 2 is the updated light and 1/2 the price.
