Default Custom Dynamics Rear LEDs & Softail Problem

I have a problem i'm wondering if anybody else ran into. I have a 2012 Softail Deluxe (FLSTN) which has the CanBus system. I bought some Custom Dynamics rear LED lights (GEN200-R-1156) with the Single 1156 rear. They do not work at all on my softail.

When I was at the dealership, I took the LED's and plugged them into a 2015 Fat boy on the show room floor -- they work perfectly. So it's not a problem with the lights. The dealership recommended that I purchase a load equalizer to see if it solves the problem. Everything online states that my model is BCM complainant, and does not require an equalizer. But the dealership insisted, So I went ahead and ordered it.

Flash forward to today. The Badlands load equalizer (LE-03-A Plug and play) arrived in the mail, and I went ahead and set it up. Same problem. Rear LED lights to not illuminate, and the dash shows a fast flashing signal.

Any advice on what to do here? I'm at a loss, and I want to make this work. Otherwise i'm going to have return all of this to the store as it's just $160 in pats that do not work.

Have the signals on your bike possibly been replaced before or removed for any other reason?

I'm asking because I just went through the same thing where only one LED signal would not work. I later figured out that when my right rear signal was replaced after a collision the dealer managed to swap the wires. It makes no difference on the stock bulbs but the LED's that you (and I) purchased are polarity sensitive.

I pulled off the rear tail light to access the wiring, swapped the wires at the connector, and everything now works as it should.

I actually found the answer just a bit ago. Going to keep this here in case anybody else runs into it.

The LED turn signals have polarity requirements. When Harley wired up the bike, they wired the rears backwards. So if you take the LED's, and swap the red / black wires (cut in half, rewire, heat shrink) it will work.

That's wild that they got them backwards from the factory. There are molex connectors at the end of those wires. You can use a terminal tool or a really small screw driver to remove the wires from the connector and put them back in in the other position. A little cleaner than cutting and soldering or using butt connectors.

I had the same exact problem on my bike with the Custom Dynamics LED's. I never cut and spliced my wiring though. I just popped the wires out at the connectors in the tail light housing and swapped them around. Harley doesn't care about the polarities on their lights because for incandescent bulbs, it does not matter.

...

That's **** poor etiquette on their part. Telling the customer to throw money at their ignorance. Did the dealer sell you the CD lights?

Regardless, they didn't know their electrical system. Get a refund asap for the load EQ. Especially considering it was a factory assembly defect.
