I had Mean City Cycles put gel pad put in my deluxe seat and had them reshape it. Absolutly awsome. Now it looks like the stock seat but with comfort and some lower back support.
I had all my seats and backrests redone with GelFoam. I was able to keep that stock look with that custom seat feel. It was about the same price to have them done as it would have been to replace them all.
I cant speak personally on the gel pads but I have had guys and girls sit on my bike who has the gel inserts and they all said that this foam was much better than what they have.
With stock, my tailbone would hurt so bad I could barely ride. Now? I can go and go and never have to stop, I have no more pain. Changing how you sit is also a great help. When I put my apes on, that helped a great deal too because it changed how I sit.
Good luck Dude and keep us posted. I'm curious to see what you do and the results you get.

Where did you have your stock seats redone? I have the same tailbone issues with both my stock seat and the Mustang Wide Tripper and I'd love to find a solution.

What kind of bars you're using plays a huge factor into that sore tailbone deal. I went from factory bars on my bike to 14" Carlinis this winter and although it is still winter time here.... just sitting on the bike I can already feel the comfort has been dramatically improved. I also suffered from the tailbone pain and I think it was from being slightly bent over or hunched while riding.
Just put 16" Gangsters on mine and the tailbone pain persists. Frankly I think it's because I'm a heavy guy and I probably compress the foam that is there more than most, leaving me sitting on the "hump" in the seat pan where the ECU is. I think firmer foam may take care of the issue. Everything below my butt seems good, it's just the rear portion that bugs me.
It's not a permanent fixture on the bike, only strapped on top of the stock seat when I need help being comfortable. I'm leaning towards a combination of getting new foam in the seat, and using this AirHawk device as well.
