Default cams

I'm going to be doing cams and was looking into ss 583 for my 14 fatboy lo. I have short shots and an air kit on the bike now, is this going to be a good set up. I want to go to either 2 into 1 pipe or big shots eventually.

what's your goal / what are you looking to get out of a cam upgrade? any headwork later or just the cam? Andrews 57h, Kury 24D or SE204 are good choices as a drop in upgrade without messing with raising compression etc- , especially the 57h with a 4 degree advance gear. Never been a big fan of the S&S cams (JMHO).

if you're just looking to pick up pure speed and your bike feels too slow, you'll get more benefit by changing the belt pulleys to 30/68 or 30/70 with a good tune than doing cams only on a stock stage1 bike. plus the pulley upgrade would benefit any cam changes later on.

I just finished tuning my bike today with a powervision and the target tune module- bike is all stock except for pipes / AC and 30/70 pulleys, and it pulls the front wheel straight all the way through 1st and at 2nd, 3rd full throttle shifts. Will be adding cams later but it was important first to get rid of the excessively tall gearing imposed by HD.
