Default Heritage Dash is Loose

Hey all,

I just finished putting my 07 Heritage back together after putting some Apes on it. When I put the dash back on, the damn thing still feels loose. The center nut is all the way tight, the little nubs that sit on either side of the bolt seem to be in place, and to me it looks like all the wiring is tucked and out of the way. But the thing still feels loose and wiggles around.

I took the bike apart a couple months ago so I'm trying to figure out if I forgot something or if it will eventually "settle in". Any advice would be appreciated!

It should be tight. Did you replace the dash bolt with a longer bolt perhaps by mistake? If my memory serves, the stock bolt has a stove bolt head that fits in the tank plate bracket.

A) put another or thicker washer on before the nut
B) remove the dash and push the tang that holds the bolt down a bit with a flathead screwdriver on either side of where the bolt fits in...

Is the gasket seated correctly against the gas tank... They move around easily when putting the console in place

I installed apes as well and have had the same issue with the dash. Before I took it off the dang thing was snug.

There's a washer that goes under the acorn nut, I'd check that and make sure it's there.

I don't think there is one there. Ill double check and see if I can find it. That's the problem with letting a bike sit torn apart.... It makes it a b**** to remember everything exact. Thanks for the input.

I looked at mine and the washer is pretty thick, it's also a small diameter so it hides under the nut.

Thanks for checking for me. I looked and can't find it. Usually I always put the nut and washer back on the bolt once I take them apart but apparently the washer got lost in the process, so I'll be picking one up today.

My 07 Heritage does "not" have a washer under the acorn nut. Maybe it should have one, but it doesn't..
