Yes, it's mounted on the left side of the bike just behind the oil bag. When you say it's underneath, do you mean where the shocks mount? If so, really don't see how that would work. The cable that runs to the throttle body would be in a bind. Who knows though. Guess almost anything is possible.
Then JD sent me his setup for ABS bikes.
I don't remr exactly what that is.. Once I did see a YouTube video for SS installation..
It shows where the SS AC would've normally mounted ..
There is no binds, or anything of the like..
The entire set up plays together perfect..
Before committing the project, I talked extensively to the switch builder in ks, the guy who built my CC, and JD of SS.. and my indie...
Everyone on same page, no hiccups atall... all's well

Sounds cool. Could you post some pics of it? I'm interested in how it's set up. When you say switch builder, I'm guessing you talking about the handlebar switch's. The ones I have are HD factory switch's. Don't remember exactly what year or model bike they were for. Thanks.

Maybe "cruise control" was the wrong term. I was just looking for something to hold the throttle open long enough to give the gas hand a break now and then. Not looking to spend $100, $400, $600 or a grand plus on a '93 Heritage I only paid $4,500 for. That wouldn't be very smart. Besides the only thing plug and play on this bike is the gas tank.

That looks like a reasonable price for a reasonable function.
Easy on when you going for a long ride, easy off when you just tooling around town.

OP, seeing where you're coming from on this issue, what is your complaint about using the OEM star wheel? I've used them for tens of thousands of miles and they have always performed acceptably
