Love Mine. Harley Davidson are heavy, way heavy. 700+# but the Softails keep the weight very low and handle nice for a cruiser. The Slim is one of the lowest bikes Harley makes combined with a low CG a great bike for the slighter humans:-)
I don't think there are any issues with the '13 Slims. My '13 Slim has been totally reliable. JMO.
When I was buying my 16 Slim I was torn between two bikes, the slim or a deluxe. I love the looks of the deluxe and I also like blackout bikes...the 110 and the seat height swayed me to pick the slim. I do love the Slim and coming from a RoadGlide it IS SO LIGHT! Perfect size and weight (im only 5'7" on a good day) between a dyna and a touring bike.
I'll still buy a deluxe in a couple of years though.
My wife liked her Slim. However, seats are very limited for it, as well as bags. We like to do 200-300 mile rides. With that being said we ended up getting her a Heritage Classic which she loves so much more. She is only 5'1" so we had to lower the rear. On the Slim she had problems getting to the Jiffy stand. I would say to have your wife test ride both bikes
My wife's Slim feels quicker and more nimble than my Deluxe. I don't care for the handle bars. The shape/size of the footboards cause me some issues. I tend to catch the edge of my boot on the footboard when bringing my feet up. The side stand kind of hides under the footboard making it interesting to get it down sometimes. I'd adjust to the footboards if I rode it regularly but the handlebars would have to go.
Are you picking this out for her? Two things a guy should never pick out for his lady, bikes and guns. Help guide her but she needs to own the decision.
Well she has a 03 Heritage Springer which she loves and would never sell (so she says) but due to health reasons I'm looking for something a little more nimble for her.
The slim is a sweet ride, very nimble low center of gravity!
limitations are lean angle with the floorboards, and luggage availability a little creativity is needed to keep the slims lines & aesthetics. Seat wise there are a few available I went with a black line seat stock slim seat is well ? I will leave it at that,
C&C seats has a fastback available with a solo pending soon.
Love my Slim S.....my first Harley.....mainly just my around town bike or short rides....I feel the bike is well balanced....it is heavy though for some riders but I'm 5-11, 260 lbs....
