I want to mount a tach on my handlebars. The HD catalogue only has one for the 07 FXSTC that mounts on the gas tank replacing the stock speedometer. The dealer said HD doesn't have a handlebar tach for the 07 yet.
I also understand there are some wiring considerations with the 07s that previous bikes didn't have.
Has anyone installed a tach on a bike like mine yet. Appreciate any advise I can get.
To my knowledge there hasn't been any done that have used a seperate handlebar mounted version, and only a couple (Extrooper has one in hisFatboy) who have used the combogas tank mounted version.
Any that are made to wire into an 07Nightrain, a 07 Standard, or an 07 Fatboywillfit a Custom, however the mounting's seem to be the main sticking point.
As of now I have not been able to find a HD mounting that isspecifically designed to fit the Customs handlebar/riser setup the accessories parts catalog. There may be one thatdoes fit,but if so Ihaven't been able to figure it out.
Let us know if you do manage to find one that works, your not the first guy who's wanted one, and I seriously doubt you'll be the last.
one way might be the new LCD display from power commander, If you are running a power commander you can use that it says, I ordered one and now have found out that you have to order the mounting bracket separate !!
If your interested in a 'high tech' tach check out Dakota Digital. They make a bunch of tach's and speedos that should fit. But the down side is that they are not cheap.
