Default Pinstriping?

I was in Myrtle Beach this weekend , and of course there was a guy pin-striping bikes there. On the way back home we stopped into Beach House HD and they had a few vendors there, and a pinstriper as well. I was so close to having my new fat boy pinstriped!! I made an appointment for the next day to have the new bike painted...it was raining, so I bailed out...was wondering how many here have had their bikes painted at a rally? I have done some more research since returning from MB, and still thinking about a cool design I have in my head. There seems to be a real pro by the name of "Scarecrow" who is among the best, somewhat near me. So any pros, cons or advise for me? There are a couple more rally's coming up that I could make. Thanks!

To be done correctly tins have to be pulled, the artist will then sand, pin stripe/air brush, and then clear coat. Don't want to go thru that, go with decals, easy removal down the road.

I bought my Ural at Sturgis last year. They offered free pinstriping with a new bike purchase, the guy was there and looked like he did good work, but the bike was camouflage painted, just did not think pinstripes would work.

I had mine done at a rally by a guy who's been doing it for 35 years. Full book of pics. Did a FRIGGIN fantastic job. I love the hand painted feel and we were able to help create the color. I actually wish i would have done my bags too, not just the fairing and tank. He used a two color paint that changes in the sun.

Maybe you had a bad experience with a striper (?) but this procedure is not necessary and until recently could cause problems. There is now a clear coat for One Shot if you use a hardener in the One Shot. One Shot has been applied for years without a clear-coat and holds up quite well

As far as an airbrush job, a clear coat is a good idea.

I took a chance.. I actually did my sport bike (Ninja Zx12r) at Americade.. (it's the biggest event we get here in the north east coast)

They did an awesome job. I don't think anything was removed (maybe front fender) but they managed to paint and clear coat the fairing and gas tank with some tribal designs. I would do it again. And it's much cheaper than some of the shops around me...

You must be very specific on what you want. very tough to go back.

Mine, either.

But I guess same would go for 99% of people who have had it done!

Anyway, OP...

I had Letterfly do mine a couple years ago on my Bagger. Very happy with his work. He has a great reputation as well. He travels to Rally's all the time, and gets asked back to do it again.

Thanks Eyeball for the info, that's what I was looking for! That was the artist I was talking with at Beach House HD on Saturday....he was going to fit me in on Sunday am, but we both mentioned if it looked like rain to cancel. Thanks again for the link to his schedule, looks like I may be able to catch him again in September at Beach House HD!
