Not sure what the E3 actual width is, I doubt it's 250mm...the Metz is 247mm, and there is only 3-4 mm (about 1/8") belt/tire clearance on my BO, I sure wouldn't be comfortable with any less!!....if the E3 is wider, it can't be by much, or the tire would rub...
with the metz 260 can you drop your air ride down to the stops and still get no rubbing?
Here's the closest I could find on the stock tire from the rear. The second pic really shows the wear pattern difference.
Thanks for posting. It does appear the new tire does fill out the fender more. I see the same wear pattern on my stock tire. I believe the Metzeler and E3 are more "round" in profile which is better. I have a few thousand more miles left on my stock tire. When I hit the wear bars I am going either Metzler or E3, not sure which yet. Have seen good things about both and no negatives. I am sure Avon makes a good tire too. Thanks again. Appreciated.

The 250 and 260 both will be a bit taller because you're squeezing a tire that was meant for an 8.5 to 9 inch rim on an 8 incher. I had the same experience with my Roadstar Raider when I put a 240 on the 7.5" rim. The handling was much improved mainly because the tire was more round.
I think I'll go with the Avon. I put them on my last ride and loved them.
The only issue I have with the Dunlops is the area where the tread blends to the sidewall. It kinda dips down where the Avon and the Metz doesn't. Perhaps just personal preference but I think the Avon & Metz look better because of that.
Went with the Dunlop E3 250. As soon as I got on I was shocked by the improvement in handling. I posted somewhere else on the details. The E3 looks much beefier than the stock tire.... Very happy.
