Well I drained the brake fluid, replaced and bled it. No luck. Now I'm not sure if I need to rebuild the master cylinder or the caliper or both.

I've never done a M/C but the caliper is easy....just crack all the bolts loose before removing it.

I tried to find a master cylinder rebuild kit today. I called the Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson Harley stealer. Greenville didn't have one but had two on order which will be there on Monday for $67.00. Spartanburg didn't have one but had them on order to be in on Thursday, forgot to ask price. Anderson has one in stock for $63.00. $67 and $63 why the difference in cost and damn I don't need a new master cylinder just a rebuild kit. Obama needs to pass an Affordable Harley Care Act. Just kiddin. I'd have to take a second mortgage on my house if that were to happen.

After calling three local stealers I found a kit within a quarter mile from home at Pete Hill's for $59.00 and brought it home. I took it off this evening and looked online a little more and found one by Biker's Choice at Chrome World for $39.22. If anyone is interested the kit oem # is 42382-87A. Hope to break it apart and put it back on tomorrow.

Put the new kit in, put it back on and tried to bleed it but still no pedal. Next I will try to back feed the master cylinder through the caliper bleeder.

I'm thinking maybe the lines are clogged. I remember flushing my brake lines and finally a chunk of dried fluid came out. No problem since. Yours might be same. It can be a PITA to unclog but keep at it.

Hey, that sounds like what the problem could be because there is very little fluid coming out when I bleed it. No harm in cleaning the line even if that isn't the problem. I will remove the MC, bench bleed it and flush the line. Thanks!

I ended up spending $40 on one of these Mitivac bleeders to really put pressure in the lines and it finally sucked out the dried fluid.

I got one of those mini vac kits from autozone for around 30 bucks. I use it a lot...if you're using speed bleeders I'm wondering if they're letting a little air slip by.
