Who died and made you the authority on bars? Everyone has their own riding style and comfort position. I don't prefer the "bent forward" riding position, so I changed to "mini-apes" to get the pull-back they offered without increasing the height over the original drag bars.

Putting apes on a bike these days isn't much different than wearing a patch that says, "Clueless wanna-be poser dork".
That's "MR." Dork to you, buddy.

Rode an FXRS for 23 years without a shield. Bought my 2k Heritage and have never looked back. Windshields rule.

This^. I hate the looks of them but love the more comfortable ride they provide.

I agree. I love riding without a windshield until I have to go above 60mph. Above that speed I don't find riding enjoyable unless I have the windshield on.

I took mine off a couple of times for around town. To save my hearing I ride with my screen. I did have to get a higher screen (21") as the OEM one (19") the wind would hit me right under the glasses, dried my eyes out.

Agree with others for on high speeds much more enjoyable with a screen.

I'm like that too. I love my wide-a$$ beach bars, but at speeds above 60, it hurts after a while. Hurts my hands from hangin' on, hurts my back from trying to counterbalance with my legs...just not pleasant

I didn't like the full size windshield, so out came my cut-off wheel and I started hacking till I ended up with this. Takes wind pressure of my torso, and puts my helmet in clean air so I don't get any buffeting.

A windshield is a plus at sustained highway speeds. Around town, not necessary. I usually run mine a lot though just because I don't feel like taking it off. My Sportster is always a "No Windshield" ride.

I have the memphis shades bullet and if I wanted to run without it, it comes off in a couple of seconds.
