Anyone ever seen apes on a race bike, or as original equipment on a serious touring bike?
Putting apes on a bike these days isn't much different than wearing a patch that says, "Clueless wanna-be poser dork".
Well, there's a self centered opinion. I have short-apes on my Heritage. Love the riding position...
Never seen apes on a race bike. Wouldn't make sense...on a race bike. Wouldn't own a 'serious' touring bike, and don't wear patches. Not a dork, not a poser. Guess thats all...

I've put lots of different things on the back of my bike, but never any short apes (so far). You might want to be more careful about what you drag out of the bar around closing time.
What's this riding position that you love? Ape on top?

I guess you didn't get that short = mini....whatever.
But I'm confused...I thought this was about handlebars. The bars on my bike are in the front, so why did you mention putting things on the back of your bike?? Can we see a picture of your bike? Maybe you have a novel idea of what 'two up' means, maybe something like a tandem bicycle??
The riding position I love is the one I get from having MINI apes and forward controls, not the 'race bike' forward leaning position. Funny, you didn't get that either, as I was making reference to your original comment about riding position.
I have a windshield and i use it early in the season when its colder out and at the end of the season in the fall in between i ride with out it. I feel its a worth while accessory
I use my windshield when I leave the state of Florida. It helped me do an 800 mile day to Sturgis. My son on his Dyna, no windshield for the 5000 odd miles we went. In Florida, never use it.
I use my QD shield in cooler temps & for longer rides, but in warm/hot weather & short rides it comes off. As said, I like the look of my bike better without it.
I have had a windshield on all my bikes until I bought a Night Train without one and drove it home from dealer in 35 deg weather. Never again! I bought an HD detachable windshield, put it on and it has never been off.
