Progressive 422 Rap setup
Dealership installed 422 rap's without asking me which 422 model I wanted. There was a lack of communication on their part and now i have these instead of the standard ones.
Can anyone tell me how much you adjust your shocks for two up riding? I gave mine 4 turns and it seemed like they ride was stiff on quick bumps or cracks in the highway.
By myself I think it rides great.

So you have the "heavy duty" (HD) ones not the "standard" ones?
For two-up unless you and your passenger weigh less than 250 .lbs combined then the HDs are the ones you want.
Attached is the instructions that came with mine.
I did a review of these a couple of years ago.
Perhaps my review can be of help.

For additional adjustment information see my follow-up thread.

Bottom line, you will need to be patient and use trial and error until you find the "sweet spot" for both 1 and 2 up.
There are a lot of variables when it comes to the adjustment.
What is right for one rider will likely be different than that for another.
That's the beauty of the 422 RAPs in that they can be customize for the rider.
I've got mine adjusted to the point that all I have to do for two-up is turn the **** 2 turns and off we go.
When we return, I turn the **** back 2 turns and it's set for one-up.
If you can't figure it out you can shoot me a PM and I'll try to render whatever help I can.

I have the standard ones as I mainly ride solo. Maybe 2-3 times a year my wife may ride. I wanted them to set the preload at 3 like you would with the factory shocks and then lower the ride height to the equivalent of 1 when unloaded. Supposedly they did that.
I was hoping to find a video explaining the fine tuning if the shocks on achieving the desired ride. I did find a video on how to adjust the regular 422 which makes sense but the rap shock I know makes setup a little confusing without a video to explain.
I will go through the information you provided later I have to help the wife with the kids. Thanks for the information.

Are you referring to 3 complete turns of the shocks?
If so that would generally put your weight at 180-235 lbs.
If you've got the standard 422 ones then I doubt you are going to be able to dial them in where-as it's comfortable for 2-up riding.
The standard 422s whether they are RAPs or not are for what I believe is weights of 250 .lbs max or less.
That would explain why at solo the ride is "great" and at 2-up it sucks.
I've read people who get the standard model only to have to send them in to Progressive to have the springs changed over to heavy duty.
I'm not sure why you changed shocks but I hope you still have your old ones so that if needed you can at least get back to the previous setup.
