Default Softail slim gangster apes

Hey everyone, just wanted some advice. I'm currently deployed and decided to buy some new apes when I got home and decided on the gangsters. The only thing I'm having trouble with is whether or not I should go with the 14"s or the 16"s. I plan on getting the 1.5" thick ones with the high roller risers. I've researched tons of forums, looked at a bunch of pictures and am still undecided. I'm 5'10, 180lbs with an average reach. My question is will the 16"s be too big? Should I go with the 14"s? I just don't want to spend the money and be unhappy with the size I get. Anyone on here the same height rocking either of these? I have the stock seat as well. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Paul

14's are a really good size when it comes to being just high enough without being over the top tall and not looking like mini apes. Carlini 1.5 inch gangsters are about 3 inches wider than the 1.25 inch bars. This moves the bars farther out of reach when doing slow turns. If you want a set of 16 inch bars 1.5 diameter I would look into a custom set of bars to ensure the pull back and width are where you want them. Custom bars are not much more than carlini bars and you can get the center the right diameter so you don't have to buy new risers

Check out brcustomcycles.com. If nothing else he's got a great way to measure bars plus he does some really nice custom chit.

Are you running 16''s on your nightrain? I'll check out a custom set but I'm kinda set on the gangster apes. Also, how tall are you?

@ILMFBL What size bars are you running? I'll check out the website but I'm pretty sold on the gangsters.

I currently have 18's on my bike but they are a set of br custom bars so they are a better fit for me. I am only 5'5 and my bike has a black line seat. My hands are even with my eyes

I'm 5'10", 200. I had originally ordered the 16" gangsters...then sat on a bike with them on and they were to tall for me. I returned them and got the 14" with 1.5" bra risers and they fit me perfectly.

When I was doing my research, your bike popped up in another thread and hence one of the reasons I'm torn between the two. Bad *** looking bike man.

BR does good work but their wait times are stupid long. i waited 4 months for mine to be made. i want to buy another set from them but just dont want to wait. i may put in a order mid summer so i can install them over the winter. Another good company is torch industries. they dont make as many types of bars but you can email them to get them made to your spec. plus they only take a few weeks to get them made. reusing stock risers makes up the cost difference between carlini bars and custom bars so i would look into it.

I am 6 foot and I got the 16's they are perfect for me, I'm sure the 14's would have been fine also, but it 250 pounds I didn't want to look to big for the bike, Also I love my high rollers
