I am about to install the factory Security system on my 2016 Heritage. Is there a way that I can activated it without taking it back to the dealership to have it programed after I install the system?
It IS possible....... but may not be worth the hassle.....
There is a procedure I have read that details the initialization of a TSM/TSSM. I don not know the exact parameters of how this works, only what I read...
There are three 10 minute cycles in the procedure, so someone can't easily steal a bike by slapping on a new TSM/TSSM.
If you try this, most will pull the headlight fuse and/or put a battery charger on the bike for the process.. One write up recommends putting a charger on the bike.
This is the 3rd write up I've seen about this procedure, probably the best one. The guy who posted it is in the business and gives a lot of good info on that forum. I saved it for future reference. I have not done this myself.
It may be worth paying the dealer to do it with digital tech... I don't know that I would have the patience

The new bikes have a BCM and has to be program to the bike. No Other ways work. Had my bike towed to the dealer today to be reprogram. Note free tow for Hog members.
If you have the TSSM system it can be activated. But I bought the 2016 factory Diagnostic Manual. It told me to use the Digital Technician II to activate the BCM. NO way around it.
