Thanks guys, not sure why I didn't think of putting the bike in gear - just used to neutral so as not to lurch when starting I suppose. Many references to a "Locking" kickstand - mine sure doesn't seem to have any locking in it!

Yes it does. The weight of the bike on the stand locks it. Put it on the stand with the trans in nuetral and roll it forward sliding the stand on the ground surface. It will not fold up and cause the bike to fall. If I am wrong and the bike falls, someone put a non-Harley stand on it. Sorry about that.
