Default Windshield

How well does the stock heritage windshield keep the passenger from getting beat up from the wind? I'm 5'9", she's 5'3". Anything and everything will be helpful.
Thanks

The stock windshield is within an inch of the tallest you can get. If you think the extra inch will help you can get the 21" replacement plexi from Memphis Shades and swap your hardware over. Beyond that, a full face helmet or a 3/4 helmet with a bubble shield will help your passenger...

Seems like deja vu.
When I got my Heritage my Wife had the same complain.

If you don't have a Heritage then opinions on how the shield works will be moot since other than perhaps the Deluxe the rider and passenger seat heights are not the same.

You didn't say that you had a Heritage but I'm making that assumption.
Not sure why you don't already have a stock shield.

I'm 5' 8" and she's 5 2".

I ended up getting a 20" Klockwerks Billboard Flare shield and that took care of the buffering.
I would estimate it raised the air flow about 4-5" over my head which resulted in it raising it 1-2" over my Wife's head.

I wasn't a fan of the look due to it's a huge shield so I bought a second set of windshield mounts. (found a set on craigslist. I've also seen them on e-Bay)
Around town I ran the stock shield, then for longer rides I simple swapped out the shields.

Also it was so tall that I actually looked through the shield vs. over it.
It took a little bit to get used to that but I felt that the trade-off of looking through the shield and not hearing my Wife bitch was worth it.

When I went over to a Reckless Fairing I measured the height of the 20" Klockwerks shield and bought a 10" Long Ride Shield which resulted in the similar height.
Like the 20" Klockwerks with the 10" LRS I look through the shield.
In my signature picture I have the 10" shield installed so perhaps that will give you an indication how tall the 20" shield is.

I also bought an 8" LRS that I run for local and solo riding.
When going on a long run 2-up I simple swap the 8" for the 10" and ride on.

So what's my recommendation; If you were in a cold climate I'd recommend the 20" Klockwerks shield due to it's wider and in the winter that certainly made a difference in comfort.

However since you're in Florida I'd go with the 20" clear LRS, get a second set of mounts and do as I did; swap them out as needed.
Not to mention that the LRS is half the cost of the Klockwerks.

BTW-I'd go clear due to at 20" you will likely be looking through the shield and even a "light tint" at night the shield is pretty dark.

That's what I write when I'm up half asleep- I didn't actually finish.
So , ... I'm in a bit of the same position. I bought a windshield 6 years ago based on some advice, but now it sit's in the basement because it's still not helping me get the air redirection I want when my wife rides. If you know somebody with a different windshield maybe they will be magnanimous enough to lend it to you for some first hand experience with a different height and/or shape. I'm 5'11" and my wife is 5'2" so there isn't much if a height difference between us, and even less than our spouses. My windshield is the tallest model from the P&A catalog and it flows the air around us just fine with ff helmets on the stock Fat Boy seat. I hope this helps.

Bluraven- I don't troll, and I would let someone try mine if they were from the area and it would ensure that they don't make an expensive misjudgment. Your remark was not cool, you don't know me.

I don't like looking through the shield and replaced the OEM with an LRS 16" recurve windshield.

I'm 5'8" and the wife is 5"5". She says the windshield works well.... Not as good as the 8" recurve on my Limited, but she has no issues when cruising the freeways (75mph) with the 16" recurve....

This here! I run their 18" recurve and it made a night and day difference over the stock shield. I'm 5'-9" and the wife 5'-3" and she never complains unless we get in crosswinds.
