Local harley dealers around here are 350, GMR tune is 450.

When I built hot rods years ago it was 85 an hour for tuning and it can easily add up to more than 350. If you throw in street tuning after the dyno for driveability then it can get up closer to 600.

For an overly hyper engine though, 600 bucks to have it smooth enough for your wife to take your 750hp car to the grocery store isn't bad at all.

350 for a full tune , I had a pv2 already. Not a dealer tune either.

Exactly...
I actually has the service manager at my dealer (who was a good friend of a good friend) walk me outside to tell me that if all you're doing is a Stage 1, that a dyno tune was a "sucker's bet."
Most EFI tuners these days will get you to around 95% of the benefit of a dyno, since those maps were developed from bikes with your equipment that already HAD been dyno'ed.
And besides, with some of the questionable, low-cost "help" being employed by dealers these days, do you really want to trust some guy, who may not be qualified, to spend an afternoon red-lining your bike? F... that.
My FP3 was all I needed...

Do some research to see if they are actually a good tuning shop. Check word of mouth and online for complaints.... I'm dying to find out what a "one cylinder tune" is....

Be warned, an incompetent dyno tuner is worse than useless...

While nothing beats a competent dyno tune, for a stage I, I'd get a PowerVision tuner from FuelMoto, flash a map from them, and dial it in to your specific VE by doing a couple auto tunes..... you'll have a great tune, have fun with the PowerVision, and may learn something long the way....

You'll be set for life.... maps for life, dyno tuning (a lot of shops use the PV now), and even able to keep the PV and switch it to another bike if you change scoots...

Good luck...

What dealer up here tunes?
The tuner I use is 800 miles away which means a good road trip, a perfectly tuned bike and a minor expense.
Alot of folks don't seem to want to ride across town for a tune, never mind pay the tuner a fair price.

I understand the exchange rate, was more interested in the 'incidentals' adding to the bottom line...

I guess drilling and welding bungs in my exhaust to mount O2 sensors and whatever related shop consumables they used. just says "supply" under the extra charge. I'm not complaining at all, the builder tried to get rid of a "popping" I had at certain cruising rpm by just adjusting cell values, but it was still there after a few tries. I figured the best way to replicate the issue and resolve it was by putting it on the dyno. they managed to get another 9hp and 10 ft/lbs tq so in my mind it was money well spent to know it's as good as it gets on that build. AFR was all over the place on the "before" run, spot on all the way to 6500 rpm after the tune.

Gasoline Alley in Red Deer. about a 7 hr ride for me. the guy that built my 95" works there, we've been friends for about 30 years but it didn't get me any discount. was hoping to get into the 100hp club but just missed the cut.

I have a Daytona Twin II and got rid of the decel pop and a little power from the straight pipes I have now , just don't want to turn my new exhaust colors.
