I always stay at the Chip when I go. Always get good and drunk at camp before heading down to the concerts in the evening. Saves a few $$$ on the bar tab at the show.
Obviously you have never been to a major sporting event because the same thing happens. Called supply and demand, as another person pointed out obviously tens of thousands are willing to pay the prices so no reason to lower them. I have gone many times and I just avoid the price gouging and have a wonderful time, instead of whining about it and saying I am never going again like a spoiled little brat.
Sledge-head- I have been to HUNDREDS of "major sporting events," including the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals, Daytona Bike Week, Daytona Speed Weeks, Iditarod (yes, the Iditarod), Olympics, etc. I've been to more "major sporting events" than you can count to, dimwit.
Here's the stupidest guy to post yet:

[QUOTE=hvacgaspiping;15429684]Whaddya` bet they didn`t buy insurance on the Full Throttle Saloon again. `Hope it burns to the ground again.
That stupid fat guy with the ****** quilt at the Full Throttle with the pins stuck through his chest twirling like an idiot in the air is an insult to the purity and sanctity of the Black Hills. It made me want to vomit.
Sell your bike and take up a hobby of picking up aluminum cans. You are obviously a miserable *******. You don't get it and obviously never will.
Could not agree more with you and by the looks of his bragging he has a vivid imagination. I am not feeding the troll anymore. He is obviously a miserable, no life loser.
Planning to go off season, not for the rally.
I hate it, I love it, who cares, I care, here's my opinion, I don't want to hear opinions;
Oops here comes nurse Ratchet.
Sturgis or any other rally big or small is what you make it. For instance staying at the Chip especially with a camper and hook ups is expensive, but if you are there for all the big headliner concerts its actually very cheap! If you're there just for the riding, find a cheap place to pitch a tent outside of the immediate area and ride til your hearts content. Cost no more to ride than anywhere else. Lots of places have $2-3 dollar beers. Just have to seek them out as most are off the beaten path and are places that don't make their living from the rally. Most meals I've eaten there are priced no higher than anywhere else and T-shirts are often cheaper in Sturgis than other big rallies I attend. People/bike watching is completely free and a big part of the rally experience. If you spend too much money there is noone to blame but yourself.
