Don't know if you've resolved this yet but check the voltage of the battery whilst you hit the starter and see if the voltage drops. Checking the terminals is a good thing to do but regards the battery itself only a load test will really tell you it's condition and you should ask an auto shop to carry one out for you.
Static voltage might be good but the load on the battery is greatest when you are trying to turn the bike over.
As your security light stayed on initially, it might be worth trying speedometer diagnostics to see if any code shown might help you narrow down your issue.
also something to check is make sure the new batterys you put in the fob are installed correctly , it is very easy to put them in upside (reversed polarity) Seen it happen to others and done it myself.
