How cool am I, I have had a Standard and a Fat Boy. The ride of the two is totally different IMO. The Fat Boy is much more comfortable for a ride of any distance compared to the standard. I would never buy another bike without floorboards. I like the Fat Boy much better. I think any HD is a good one for someone.

Is the seating position is the main/only factor here? Baggers have a similar seating position to the Fatboy. But if you put heel rests on the Custom... wouldn't it be about the same?

Heel rests feel exactly like floorboards.
Which is better for travel?
They both suck, in fact all Softails suck.
If I wanted the fat look, I would definitely skip the Fatboy and go directly to a King..
