'01 Heritage softail fuel problems
Every time I refuel it runs VERY bad...seems to idle fine but as soon as I take off it keep dying, cutting out, and just sounds like crap. Ride it a few miles and it starts running fine again. No other problems that I can see. Today I got 91oct (as always) but in a gas can and filled it slow, so I wouldn't stir up any possible trash in tank. Did the same still but maybe even a little worse and it was dying, cutting out and this time it would stop running all together when off the throttle. This lasted for 7 miles then runs fine. Now I dread having to get gas. Pain in the a$$

It doesn't sound like an issue with fuel to me. And there is a fuel filter, so even if there was some dirt in the tank, that shouldn't matter. I never had the problem you're describing. Sorry I can't be helpful, maybe you should have the bike checked by a mechanic.
