OK, so what first atrackted me to the Slim S was the Olive Gold denim with the star on the tank but, the black looks so good too. I don't know which one to get. I like the look of the '42 WLA but I'm thinking that the black would be more timeless and look up to date down the road.
So, what say you?

I went through the exact "problem" last year when I bought my Slim S. The images of the olive also first got me interested, but in the end I got the black for two reasons.
One, I don't have a personal affiliation with the military, even though a sizable chunk of my extended clan serve in the armed forces of Canada and the US. For me, I would be more comfortable rocking a big white star like that on the tank if I served in Uncle Sam's army. Of course, a supporter of the military has all the rights in the world to ride that fine looking machine.
Two, I feel I can go in more directions in terms of mods with the black bike, although that might be more a reflection of my lack of imagination haha
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of either, and it's what kept me from buying a S model (I bought a '17 in Red Iron Denim instead, so it's not like I'm against off the wall colors: my XL1200X was HC Cancun Blue).
I'm also former Navy. If the offered the military vibe one in battleship gray, I would have pulled the trigger on it.
I was sorely tempted by the 2016 Softail Slim in OD green with the big white star. One of these showed up in the showroom just when I was looking to buy a new bike. It just plain looks cool and I did serve in the US Army for 5 years. I ended up buying my 2015 Fat Boy in Vivid Black.
Either black or the green is always going to be super-cool, so I do not think that the OP can go wrong. It is for sure that the OD green makes a definite statement.
