I use to wear a half helmet. Then my neighbor one day was telling me about a bike he was riding and the front fender came off the bike going 70 and it tagged the bottom of his full face right were your chin would be. He said if not for the full face he would have been down. Then about a year later he was doing some crazy stuff hit a guard rail and really scratched up his full face helmet. Saved his face for sure. Moral is I wear a full face all the time. Definitely keeps you warmer in the cold and no problems when it's warmer, I can take the clear shield off in summer to keep it cooler.

It was his buddies bike. The fender was painted and the shop that painted it installed the fender. Best guess they didn't tighten it correctly, bolts came off and so did the fender. Go figure

And how does said fender come UP and hit you in the face?

I wore a full face helmet back when I rode sport bikes (back in the '80's). I switched to a 3/4 when I got the Harley, and went to a DOT half helmet when I started using a windshield. I bought a Bell 500 3/4 helmet a couple of years ago, but I can't get used to riding with my ears covered.

I wear a modular FF in the clod months and an open face in the summer months. I don't do a ton of riding on the highway.......and by not a ton....I mean ZERO. If I did I would wear my modular.

Image is what you decide.......not what others decide.

I NEVER trust anyone else to do stuff like that. I always check every job. Remember, when riding a bike, tight nuts are a necessity!

I wasn't there and this guy is a crazy *** rider. Couldn't say how it happened, but I saw the helmet and what the fender did do it.
