2014 cvo breakout limportant mode
Hey Shane... what do you mean with Throttle body? do you mean the twist assembly that goes inside the handlebar?
The Fly by Wire on Harleys has TPM (throttle position sensor) in the intake manifold to detect the position of the intake butterfly valve, and the throttle assembly that goes in the handlebar also has two sensors.. all that info is fed to the ECM.. limp mode happens when the ECM cannot reconcile the data being fed by the sensors (most likely because the sensors in the handlebar or the intake manifold went bad).. Harley engineers in the their infinite wisdom decided to seal the TPM sensor inside the air intake manifold.. so if the TPM sensor goes bad.. you have to replace the entire air intake manifold!!!!.. to make matters worse.. the TPM is electro-mechanical (inside it has two potentiometers)... so well.. they eventually wear out.. I am still baffled by that decision made to seal the TPM inside the manifold.. the other bikes without Fly By wire but rather cable operated throttle assemblies have the TPM sensor installed outside and easily replaceable..
Here is a good article on Fly by Wire technology on Harleys:
