Default softail rear tire

I have obtained a 1993 FLSTN.
The rear tire is really thin for my taste. Is it possible to go wider without having to change anything(it's all stock). and if so how wide can I go?

I welcome all opinions

I run a Avon AV72 Cobra 150/80-16 with no issues. No clue how wide these guys go. I keep seeing 180.

I'm throwing a 150 on my 99 fatboy maybe this spring, if not, next spring...I think I'm going to need a pulley spacer to move the belt away from the tire. I had a 170 under my 93 with the stock fender but I did a 1" belt conversion on it an it was tight in the stock fender. I had a V rod an did a 240 conversion on it...if I get a new bike it will be either a slim or breakout...if it's the slim a fatter tire is going on!

I'm not that well informed with all that goes round but I have a 18 after market wheel with a 200 and could barely slide a credit card between the tire and tail/frame. No clue on what you could put on the stock wheel. Hope it helps you...

If you want to stick with the stock fender, the widest I would go is 140. 150 pushes you to the brink of rubbing the fender bolts. It can be done with certain manufactures tires.

Stock is 130, you can go 140 without issue. A 150 will fit with modifications but it is not worth the headaches...Going from 130 to 150 is less than an inch of width...
