Ive got an 02 softail standard and am soon to be replacing the rear tire. question is, can i go any wider than stock without putting a wide tire kit on it? if so how wide can i go before changing anything?

 

I have an 02 fatboy and wanted to go from a 130 to a 140 and teh dealership would not perform the work. Two different dealerships discouraged me from going wider without a kit or soem mods.

 

i have an 02 fxsti and put a 150 16 rear on it with no mods in the spring... rode all summer w/ no problems and now i'm thinking of putting on the new style (even thinner) belt and pulley and goin to a 170 or 180... want to go as wide as possible without a kit that loses the stock fender... from what i'm told you can go up to a 160 18" rear if you have stock belt. check out http://hdwheels.com/Product.htm. they say no mods needed: just rim and tire..
