Default Breakout Reach Issues

For those of you who have installed risers onto the BO, has it fixed your reach issues? I'm worried about keeping the BO stock and not being able to ride for longer periods of time due to the low bars and the far reach. I'm also trying to find a solution for the cheapest way possible.

Installing 1.5" to 1.75" risers do the trick?

Are you talking about different risers or about riser spacers???

Note: Either way I would not recommend doing any more than adding 1.5" to the stock height or you might get in trouble with the cables and lines.

Then it depends how serious your reach issues are. Mind the cable length....1.5" is the max I would go.

1.5" max before you have to change the brake line. You could do a combination of spacers and a Sundowner seat. I think the seat moves you up about 1.5". I'm 5'11", I use 1.5" spacers and I could still use about 2" of reach for a perfect upright sitting position.

Yeah, I'm 5'9-5'10. That's good to know, I didn't think about changing the seat as well.

When you added the 1.5" spacers, did you find that it helped your comfort level during riding?

Yes, it did help some. But, it could be better. I'm looking into a different seat for the longer rides, especially with the wife. These seats should put me where I need to be comfort-wise for long, multi-day trips:

Sterling's 2up seat
Corbin dual tour (they look hideous but it's more for purpose than looks)
Sundowner Solo seat (already have the passenger for the wife.)

If you have a really good local upholster that can modify your seat, that is another route to try.

6' here and a 1-1/2" spacer made a world of difference for me.

Do you happen to have a part # on that brake line?
