Default Tires

I have just bought a 2005 Springer Classic and will need a new back tire soon. I believe dunlop 401s are on the back. I have a Dunlop 404 to put on it but I am told that Harley doesn't recommend that. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about what I should do.

Thanks

I think the rim width of the wheel has a lot to do with it. Dunlop Fitment Guide shows your rear wheel to be 3.00" x 16. If it is stock.

Depending on which 404 you have you should be able to use it. Here are the specs on the 404's

I'm fixing to need both. I was looking at Metzlers. I have a 180 screaming eagle on the back and love it. I want to keep that wide profile. The rim on my Low Rider is 4.5". The Metzlers say they need a 5" rim.

I can't find the rim requirements on the dunlop screaming eagle 180 that's on it now. But if it has this one on it I should be able to run the Metzler.
