Default How old you think these are!?

So I've had my 06 standard for about 4 months now and have been all over the thing replacing parts and just simply making it how I wanted it. It dawned on me this morning that I've never checked the plugs and don't know when the last time they were changed. So I hopped on and rode up to get some new plugs. When I pulled the old ones is when I got the surprise. These things look terrible!!

The thread title is a rhetorical question I hope.

You replaced them. That's what counts.

In actuality, the parts of the plugs that matter don't look all that bad. I'm not saying they don't need changed, but they aren't that bad either.

This is true the electrode doesn't look all that bad. The insulator is a little rough looking.

Have to agree. The rusted part does not take long to get like that on one that is sitting.

Seriously, the exterior portion of the plug gets rough fast. Those could be less than a year old.

By the looks of your plugs, you have a mighty healthy, nicely tuned engine. Don't sweat the rusty steel part. Humidity or bike washes can do that.

I think this happens to a lot of guys who live close to the ocean. The salt air can kill a bike in no time,

Yeah I went ahead and replaced them with screamin eagle plugs from the Harley stealer. I was a little aggravated with myself that I had over looked them. Normally when I buy anything second hand, I go through and do a complete tune up and fluid change. I did everything else and forgot about the plugs.
