Hello folks. Im currenty have a 2016 street bob that i been fixing up here and there. Just bought it last yr. An i really like it. However my wife feels kinda cramped on it and im starting to think i may have been better getting a softail. I test road a few the other day and really like the heritage and the deluxe. Im leaning towards the heritage because i feel like for the grand difference the heritage is the best buy. However my wife hasnt got to ride on the back of one yet do to her work schedule. Dealership will pay mine off if i buy a new heritage or deluxe. I know thats really up to me which one i want. But is there any problems with the heritage or the deluxes that i should know about? Is there any reason i should go for the deluxe over the heritage if i decide to pull the trigger?

IMO Heritage. I like Delux, but I like low pipes, big bags, big seats, hi bars, w-shields, etc. Get the new cruise for sure and ABS for damn sure!
I've had a lot of different Harleys and I always go back to my true love...Heritage Softails! Love the way they ride and feel...love being in the bike instead of being on it! My favorite one was my new 89 springer made into a heritage w/6 gal tank.
My Heritage is a 1995 model and I still love this thing. That should tell you something.
If I were you, I would wait until next year since the M8 will likely be the only big twin.
Until then, get a two up seat and passenger pegs to see if your wife will really like it but assure her a better two up bike could replace your current bike next year if it turns into something she wants really wants to do.
I was looking at the Deluxe just like you, but bought the 2017 Heritage instead. With some of the money I saved, I installed the detachable sissybar, detachable saddlebag kit and saddlebag locks. Now when I take off the windshield, sissybar and saddlebags, I have a very similar look to the deluxe.
I pretty much never ride with the sissybar attached. It makes it much easier to swing my leg over the bike. I only put on the sissybar and pillion pad on when I take someone for a ride.
I could be wrong here, but I don't think so. The heritage has one inch more travel than the Deluxe . Also has a bigger back seat, so that should make it more comfortable for two up riding.swifty
I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a RK, now I'm going with the Heritage. I had an 07 Heritage prior to my '15 Street Bob, and should not have made the trade. My wife can't stand the bob for the reasons you stated. My kids aren't fond of it either, they miss the old Heritage. With the RK I felt that I was trying to force myself to like it, like the street bob. The type of riding I do, the Heritage is the best for my needs....and I'm just a Softail guy. Getting the Bonnieville blue with Smoothies. Can't wait...
